Report

This was an important game in the season for Manager Andy, his Assistant Ian and several players who previously played at todays opposition Risborough Rangers.

We welcomed back top scorer Matt Hatt and Jacob Hutchinson and they certainly had a big part to play.

The lads had a different feel to them pre game very focused and prepared for the task ahead.

As expected Risborough Rangers Dev brought along a few older experienced players, fringe first team and some recent signings.

Tring decided to kick up the slope in the first half and with the traditional wind blowing across the pitch but this didn’t prevent the lads from starting very well.

We won the ball straight back in the opening minute moved it straight forward to Matt who fed Jacob on his right side and the rest was history as he slotted home for a 1-0 lead.

Throughout the first half the defence were solid keeping out the pace of Sam Pekun and Jardel Husbands for the away side without them even getting a shot at Alex Sykes in goal.

Our midfield trio of Toby, Ryan and Dan winning more than their fair share of tackles whilst picking up every 2nd ball, quickly feeding it to the lively Jacob and Callum out wide or Matt leading the line.

The next chance fell to Jacob this time out on the left finding space but his shot hit the post.

HT well deserved 1-0 lead.

The away side made a change at Half time with the returning Alex Sethi (9 months out with a double fracture) going to their 1st team game.

This had a big impact on RRFC as he was organising them against a determined Tring side.

The 2nd goal came when the impressive Jacob cut inside after beating the full back with ease to curl a shot past the diving keeper into the far top corner.

The Gaffer then made changes to the team and brought on 17 year old Sammy Hill to replace his brother Dan, Banksy replaced Matt upfront to add pace and Danny slotting into CM to work alongside the impressive Toby.

Once again Jacob broke forward to run onto a great forward move and lobbed the keeper but the ball bounced off the cross bar and behind.

The last action of the match saw the away team grab a consolation when first team player Sam Pekun nodded home a consolation goal in the last minute which was a little disappointing as we defended so well all game without the away team threatening to score.

Final Result 2-1

Andy and Ian quoted afterwards “we knew the lads had this type of performance in them and if we could perform anywhere near this we would easily be much higher up the league”
