Well! Where do we begin? It was always going to be difficult to write a report about a 4-0 loss but mainly because the manner in we lost the game. As the away side's match report suggests, the scoreline was very OTT for the game itself BUT if you concede four goals in the way the home side did with 30 minutes to go then you deserve everything you get.
Andy Hockley was able to pick a full squad with players returning and new signings such as Joe Oxley being available. Oxley named amongst the substitutes while Marc Arnott returned up front.
Let's get to the game itself then..Well for 60 minutes you would have thought that there was only going to be one winner. The Tring coaching staff always record the stats for both teams. Tring finished with 19 shots on goal and 14 of them on target. Eynesbury had 5 shots on target and scored 4!
The home side started the game really well, creating opportunities with Marc Arnott testing the (by the way) superb Eynesbury keeper. Best keeper the coaching team had seen at this level for a long time. Without him, Tring would have been 2, 3, maybe 4-0 up at half time if it wasn't for him.
The first clear cut chance dropped to Matthew Hatt. he raced through one on one with the keeper but his shot was well saved. A crucial missed chance. It wasn't to end there, Jacob Hutchinson who was causing problems for the away side all game struck a venomous shot with was tipped over by the keeper once more. That would go on to be the story of the day for Tring. Every shot they had, would be go wide or be saved by the excellent keeper (14 times in fact!).
The second half started and the home side left off where they finished the second half, on top. Jacob Hutchinson hit the underside of the bar from 30 yards out before Toby Bennett followed up but his header jut looped on to the top of the netting. Another huge chance.
On 59 minutes the deadlock was broken but it was the away side against the run of play. A very quick counter attack from a Tring corner and it was 1-0. 10 minutes later, another counter attack from Tring attacking trying to find an equaliser and it was 2-0. Tring were shellshocked. Tring still created more chances, new signing Joe Oxley came onto the pitch and he saw his header crash against the crossbar and then his follow up shot was again well saved by the keeper.
The home side completely lost all discipline and conceded twice more in the final 7 minutes of the game. The home side coaching side left stunned and frustrated which could be felt from the home side on the pitch and off the pitch. It was a game that should not have resulted in a loss.
Full credit to the away side, they were patient and when quality was needed it was delivered with 4 expertly executed goals. No gloating, just a professional job done and deserved winners on the day.
Head Coach Jamie Roberts: "I was left shocked at the end. I couldn't even get off the bench, I could not believe we lost that game but we did and badly! A huge lack of discipline and I think some arrogance too. We completely lost our heads at the end which was the most disappointing thing for me not the missed chances.
Enough about us, I thought Eynesbury were professional and patient and waited for us to make a mistake and that is how they got their goals. 4 really good finishes too. They were worthy winners because you have to score goals to win games not just create chances. We have had 4 really tough games so far, We have played 4 of the top 5 already, Today was the only time we lost by a more than 1 goal margin. It has been fine margins before that. We have a lot of work to do and that win will come very soon."
