A game of two halves and a great one for the neutral as they say!
Andy Hockley was able to make a few changes following last week’s loss at Old Bradwell. Luke Roberts makes his first team debut at left back, Jake Plumridge returns to the starting 11 with Gabs Mititelu dropping to the bench.
Tring started the game really well. Playing some really nice football, moving the ball across the very good Buckingham pitch. The away side’s defensive shape and overall defending was also coming out on top against the home side.
George Scott, Joe Oxley and Toby Bennett (x2) all went close to opening the scoring but it was the Captain on 35 minutes who open the scoring. Jacob Hutchinson pounced on a poor touch by the Buckingham midfielder in a press and then drove at the centre half before laying the ball to Flynn who tucked it under the on rushing keeper. 0-1
5 minutes later it was two and the goal of the game! Corey Flynn stole the ball off of the Buckingham midfielder and found Dan Hill who played a lovely 1st time ball to the overlapping Jake Plumridge who used his pace to get into the box before playing a ball across the 6 yard box and George Scott smashes home for his first for the club! 0-2
HT: 0-2
The home side came out of the half time break with something about them. Some slight tactical changes which caused the away side some issues but the first goal was a gift. Tring tried playing out from a goal kick and Toby Bennett took a heavy touch with was pounced upon before Ben Jenkins brought down the home side’s forward for a penalty. Adam Bone stepped up and sent Alex Sykes the wrong way. 1-2
Hockley made some changes, Matthew Hatt came on for the tiring Oxley and later in the game Ryan Curtis came on for George Scott in a tactical change which worked with Imlach dropping in front of the back four to pick up the second balls from the long balls forward.
On 71 minutes the game changed! Matthew Hatt ran through on goal and was brought down by the on rushing keeper. Penalty to Tring! Hatt grabbed the ball and took the penalty. Unfortunately his shot dragged wide, a huge chance and one that would be punished.
A minute later, the home side had equalised. The number 2 found a deep ball to the back post which was brought down by the substitute whose shot hit the post but then hit the back of Sykes and roll into the net. A touch of fortune for the home side. 2-2
With 15 minutes to go Tring made their final change with Gabs Mititelu coming on for Dan Hill and there only really looked like one winner and it was the away side who stepped their game up again. Matthew Hatt had the best chance where he saw his one on one chance saved by the keeper and his follow up blocked again. Flynn then picked up the ball and crossed it to Hatt who saw his glancing header saved at point blank range. Very unlucky. The game ended all square.
