Corries stepped away from league football to take part in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy against Herts Senior County League Premier side Hatfield Town.

Andy Hockley juggled the squad about to give minutes to players who have not seen as many as they could have lately. Callum Green stepped in for his full debut at left-back. Darrien Garcia was handed his first start of the season. Corries were without 6 first team stars but changes were always going to be made in the cup.

On what was an extremely bobbly pitch and a sticky surface, the quality was always going to suffer and that is exactly what happened. This was not one for the neutral and both sides lacked quality. Hatfield had the better of the opportunities in the game with MOTM Alex Sykes pulling off some excellent saves. That really says it all about the game and Hatfield deservedly going through to the Quarters.

I'd love to write more about the first half but very little clear cut opportunities were there to write about. Perhaps both sides were figuring each other out. 0-0 at HT.

Tom Banks entered the fray at the half way point replacing Darrien Garcia to give Corries some more pace down the flanks. The second half didn't really open up any further but Hatfield started to look more dangerous. As I said Alex Sykes pulling off some cracking saves.

One of the best chances fell to Matthew Hatt who was played through one on one and saw has tame effort go wide. This would be a miss they would come to rue because in the last minute of the game Hatfield won it. Callum Green was upended (rightly or wrongly, rightly according to the referee) and the ball was squared to the unmarked striker who finished with ease and claim a scalp for the Herts County League side. This was clear to see from the celebrations and they deserved it.

Head Coach Jamie Roberts said.."I was very disappointed with the way we played today, a chance for some to stake a claim in the side with so many missing too. We didn't play with any structure, movement or quality. Defensively we were pretty good after a shaky opening 15 minutes, we just couldn't hold out. Was it a foul on Callum Green, some refs would have give it but fair play to the referee, she was letting those type of 'fouls' go all game so she stuck to her guns. Can't complain!"
