Charlie Sinclair to Step Down as Chairman

News
by Carshalton Football Club, 3 years ago

The sun has well and truly set on a very successful season for the club: Seeing Jamie Powell and Joey Mitchell's 3s champions of Junior Division 3 South. Wayne White's 4s narrowly missing out on promotion from the same league, but winning the AFA Senior Novets Cup. Ryan Polley's 5s winning the SAL Intermediate Novets cup and being promoted as runners up of the Junior Division 4 South. As well as Chris Tipler's 6s gaining promotion as runners up of the Junior Division 6 South in their maiden season.

While the champagne was sprayed with much joy, we also raised a glass or two for Charlie Sinclair, who after 5 years will be stepping down as Chairman for a quieter pace of life on the south coast. Follow him on Facebook for 'Charlie's Guide To Pubs of East Sussex'.

Considering the turbulence the football club has faced in the past half a decade, most notably Covid with it's multiple lockdowns, incomplete seasons and social distancing guidelines (not to mention winters that seem to get wetter and wetter every year) Charlie leaves the club in a good financial position, with an excellent social scene, fantastic atmosphere and stocked trophy cabinet.

To say our thanks, the committee presented Charlie with a framed centenary shirt, after the 4s triumph in the AFA Senior Novets Cup final, a fitting send off, for sure!

We hope to see Charlie at many of the social events throughout the year, albeit in the plush comforts of the other side of the bar from now on.

Go well, Charlie. Go bloody well!
