AFC Mackworth was founded in 2015 by two brothers who had just one aim – to get a group of mates together for a game of football at the weekend.

Dan Willis, AFC Mackworth Chairman & First Team Manager, was ruled out of football with a serious back injury, so he wanted to start up a football club to stay in the game.

Fast forward to 2021 and we now have 11 teams and provide footballing opportunities and activities to over 160 players in the community, from ages 4 to 78.

The club started with just one team, who won the league in their first season. The First Team have since gone on to progress up the leagues season-on-season, and won the top-flight title in 2021.

The Reserves were introduced at the beginning of the 2020-21 season, and went on to finish 4^th in their first season, with the aim of using the Reserves to breed young players in to the First Team.

An exciting opportunity arose at the end of that season, to take on 8 youth teams from Minis (4-6 years) to U15s which meant providing first-class football for 100 youngsters within the local community.
